Wed 27th May 2020 @ 6:45 pm - 8:30 pm
Beyond Monkton Deverill by Charlie Waite
This event has been postponed due to coronavirus.
We are attempting to reschedule for May 2021.
You are invited to an Evening Celebration
Our Evening Celebration this year is on Wednesday 27th May at 6.45pm (doors open at 6.15pm).We have a local – yet world famous – lecturer, landscape photographer Charlie Waite, and a magnificent venue – the Medieval Tithe Barn at Hinton St Mary (by kind permission of Anthony and Val Pitt-Rivers).In addition, after the lecture, we have wine and canapes. If weather permits we will make the most of the light May evening and have our refreshments outside in the delightful walled gardens.
Parking for the event will be in the farmyard across the road from the Tithe Barn. Mrs Pitt-Rivers has asked that nobody parks right outside the Tithe Barn or in the adjacent road.
Charlie Waite lives in the Blackmore Vale and has taken many local photographs. He has also travelled widely around the world and his photographs reflect his travels. He has written or contributed to a large number of photographic books; lectured around the world; taught aspiring photographers; and appeared on television talking about the art of landscape photography.
Charlie Waite says that his photographs are a wonderful double act between the eye and the brain. He has a very painterly approach and sees himself more as an “interpreter and a responder than a photographer.”
His new book “Behind the Photograph” reveals the stories of how he made his favourite photographs. The images he will offer us, his viewers, will give us a breathtaking vista of colour, light, shade, shape and composition, which all come together in harmony and serenity to please the eye. Our lecture will take us through many of these pictures, both local and worldwide.
Lecturer: Charlie Waite – a world-renowned landscape photographer who produces amazing landscape pictures.
Doors open at 18:15, lecture begins at 18:45hrs followed by drinks and canapes until 20:30hrs.
The ticket cost includes wine and canapes and is shown on the application form. Click here for application form.
