CORONAVIRUS and the current programme for 2020 - 2021
The demographic of our Society is such that the majority of Members are in the 'at risk' category and so it has been decided to suspend the lecture programme until April 2021. If by late June, the risk of contracting Covid -19 is sufficiently diminished and we are able, finally, to hold an Evening Celebration with drinks, canapes and a lecture, then it truly will be something to celebrate!
Meanwhile, the committee aims to keep in regular contact with Members by sending links to items of interest online, such as lectures, details of educational courses offered by museums and art galleries and information on cultural activities taking place in our area or further afield. This is in the form of a newsletter which is prepared by a different member of the Committee each month. It was established in June that the majority of the membership were not keen in participating in Zoom lectures, but for those who are interested, Sherborne and Nadder Valley Societies frequently invite our members to join in with their Zoom lecture programme.
We look forward very much to seeing everyone again in the spring, meanwhile keep cheerful and above all, stay safe throughout the coming weeks.
Welcome
Our highly-accredited lecturers cover a huge spectrum of fascinating topics connected with the diverse world of decorative and fine arts. Each year we run two Days of Special Interest at Cucklington, one in Spring and another in the Autumn, which comprise of three in-depth lectures with a break in the middle of the day and the opportunity to meet up with friends over a glass of wine and a delicious sit-down lunch.
Membership of The Arts Society Blackmore Vale opens up the world of arts to everyone and is a great way to make new friendships especially if you have recently moved to the area.
We are delighted to welcome new members and guests – click on Join-Us above for more details.
