Lee Miller and Roland Penrose
Mon 18th Mar 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm£33.00
Days of Special Interest are held twice a year at Charlton Village Hall near Shaftesbury which has ample parking in front of the hall for members and guests.
The next Day of Special Interest will be held on 18th March 2019 when lecturer Mr. Antony Penrose will be coming along to talk about Lee Miller and her husband Roland Penrose.
Lee Miller was an American supermodel in New York in the 1920s before starting to work behind the camera lens as a fashion and fine art photographer. During WW11 Lee became a war correspondent and photographer for British Vogue magazine and amongst the many photographs she took, produced a series of photographs of women and their contribution to the war effort. Lee married the artist and biographer Roland Penrose in 1947 and the couple were highly influential in promoting Surrealism and International Modernism in Britain.
