The Music and Life of Johann Sebastian Bach

Johann Sebastian Bach, composer of the Baroque era and the most celebrated member of a large family of north German musicians. Bach is now generally regarded as one of the greatest composers of all time. Appearing at a propitious moment in the history of music he was able to survey and bring together the principal styles, forms and national traditions which had developed during preceding generations and, by virtue of his synthesis, enrich them all.


Lecturer:  Mr Peter Medhurst GRSM ARCM

Peter appears in the UK and abroad as a musician and scholar, giving recitals and delivering illustrated lectures on music and the arts. He studied singing and early keyboard instruments at the Royal College of Music and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
